Lawyers Are Standing By

Were You Injured in One of These Accidents?

  • Car Accidents are a concern along PA Route 488 (Portersville Road) and the residential streets of Ellport. The borough sits along major traffic corridors connecting Ellwood City to points east. We handle rear-end crashes, intersection collisions, and accidents involving commuter traffic.
  • Truck Accidents occur on PA Route 488, which carries commercial traffic between Ellwood City and destinations toward Moraine State Park and Butler County. Large vehicles sharing the road with residential traffic create collision risks. These crashes often result in serious injuries.
  • Medical Malpractice claims arise when healthcare providers fail to meet the standard of care. Ellport residents typically receive care at UPMC Jameson in New Castle or Heritage Valley Beaver. Errors in diagnosis, treatment, or surgery can have lasting consequences for patients.
  • Workers’ Compensation benefits are available to employees injured on the job. Many Ellport residents work at industrial facilities in Ellwood City or commute to jobs throughout the region. If you were hurt at work, you deserve benefits for your medical care and lost wages.
  • Motorcycle Accidents result in serious injuries on the scenic routes through southern Lawrence County. PA Route 488 leads toward Moraine State Park and attracts recreational riders. We fight for full compensation for injured motorcyclists.
  • Wrongful Death claims allow families to seek compensation when negligence causes a loved one’s death. Whether the loss resulted from a traffic accident, workplace incident, or medical error, our attorneys help families through this difficult process.

Why Accidents Happen in Ellport

Ellport sits in southern Lawrence County, bordered by Connoquenessing Creek and adjacent to Ellwood City. The borough is approximately 35 miles northwest of Pittsburgh and 10 miles south of New Castle.

PA Route 488 (Portersville Road) runs along the northern edge of Ellport, serving as a major corridor between Ellwood City and destinations to the east including Moraine State Park. The route carries commuters, recreational traffic, and commercial vehicles throughout the day.

Burns Avenue serves as a primary residential street, connecting neighborhoods to the borough building and local services. Golf Avenue marks the boundary between the original Country Club property (west side) and the later residential development (east side). Fourth Street and the streets near the former country club site see regular local traffic.

Connoquenessing Creek forms the eastern boundary of the borough, and the terrain along the creek influences road patterns. The residential character of Ellport means drivers encounter pedestrians, parked vehicles, and neighborhood activity throughout the community.

Medical Care After an Ellport Accident

UPMC Jameson, located at 1211 Wilmington Avenue in New Castle, is approximately 12 miles north of Ellport. The full-service community hospital provides emergency services, surgical care, and diagnostic imaging for accident victims.

Heritage Valley Beaver on Dutch Ridge Road in Beaver is approximately 10 miles to the southwest. For severe trauma requiring specialized care, patients may be transported to UPMC Presbyterian or Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, roughly 35 miles away.

Accident injuries often require treatment beyond the initial emergency room visit. Physical therapy, specialist consultations, and ongoing medical care can continue for extended periods. Our attorneys account for both current and future medical costs when calculating your claim’s value.

From Golf Course to Borough

Ellport’s unusual name combines “Ellwood” and “Portersville,” the communities that lie to its west and east. Through 1919, more than a third of what is now Ellport was the Ellwood City Country Club, with the clubhouse located near what is now 111 Fourth Street.

In 1920, a Pittsburgh realty company purchased the golf course and began selling lots for approximately $600 each. The company also bought farmland to the east from local families including the Deemers, Mahonys, and Gartleys. This area was part of Wayne Township until 1929, when residents petitioned to incorporate as a separate borough.

Today, Ellport maintains its residential character as a community of approximately 1,100 residents. The borough provides its own services including recycling and yard waste disposal. The Connoquenessing Creek that borders the community offers scenic views and connects Ellport to the broader watershed that includes Slippery Rock Creek and the Beaver River.
