Lawyers Are Standing By

Were You Injured in One of These Accidents?

  • Car Accidents are common in Shenango Township due to heavy traffic on US Route 422 and PA Route 65. The township supervisors have declared a portion of Route 422 a safety corridor due to the number of crashes. We handle rear-end collisions, intersection accidents, and highway crashes.
  • Truck Accidents occur frequently on US Route 422, which carries significant commercial traffic between Ohio and points east. Large trucks sharing the road with passenger vehicles create collision risks, particularly at intersections and on-ramps. These crashes often result in serious injuries.
  • Medical Malpractice claims arise when healthcare providers fail to meet the standard of care. Shenango Township residents have quick access to UPMC Jameson in New Castle. Errors in diagnosis, treatment, or surgery can have lasting consequences for patients.
  • Workers’ Compensation benefits are available to employees injured on the job. The township is home to businesses including McKesson Corporation, Con Yeager Spice Company, and Portersville Valve. If you were hurt at work, you deserve benefits for your medical care and lost wages.
  • Motorcycle Accidents result in serious injuries on the busy routes through the township. US Route 422 and PA Route 65 carry heavy traffic that creates hazards for riders. We fight for full compensation for injured motorcyclists.
  • Wrongful Death claims allow families to seek compensation when negligence causes a loved one’s death. Whether the loss resulted from a traffic accident, workplace incident, or medical error, our attorneys help families through this difficult process.

Why Accidents Happen in Shenango Township

Shenango Township lies immediately south of New Castle, bordered by the Shenango River to the west and Slippery Rock Creek gorge to the east. The township serves as a major commercial and residential area for Lawrence County.

US Route 422 runs through the township, providing the main east-west corridor between Ohio and points east. This route has been designated a safety corridor between PA Route 19 and I-376 due to the number of serious accidents. The 15-mile stretch sees heavy commercial and passenger vehicle traffic daily.

PA Route 65 runs through the eastern portion of the township, connecting New Castle to Ellwood City and the Pittsburgh region. The intersection of PA Route 65 and PA Route 388 at a “Y” intersection south of New Castle requires careful navigation.

The Lawrence Village Plaza and numerous businesses along the PA Route 65 corridor serve as a shopping district for the area. The Shenango Industrial Park hosts manufacturing and distribution operations. These commercial centers generate significant traffic throughout the day.

Medical Care After a Shenango Township Accident

UPMC Jameson, located at 1211 Wilmington Avenue in New Castle, is just minutes from most parts of Shenango Township. The full-service community hospital provides emergency services, surgical care, and diagnostic imaging for accident victims.

For severe trauma requiring Level I care, patients may be transported to UPMC Presbyterian or Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, approximately 50 miles to the south.

Accident injuries often require treatment beyond the initial emergency visit. Physical therapy, specialist consultations, and ongoing medical care can continue for extended periods. Our attorneys account for both current and future medical costs when calculating the full value of your claim.

From Revolutionary War Land Grants to Today

Shenango Township has roots dating to the late 1700s when Revolutionary War veterans received land grants in the area. William Carins, who came to the area in 1796, gave Shenango its name. He was awarded 500 acres for his military service and worked as a cloth weaver. William Tindall, another early settler, received 400 acres and lived to age 93.

The township was once much larger, stretching from the Shenango River to the Slippery Rock Creek gorge. Over time, portions were carved off to create South New Castle Borough, Pollock Township (now part of New Castle), Taylor Township, and Slippery Rock Township.

Today, Shenango Township is one of Lawrence County’s most populous areas with significant commercial development. The Shenango Township Community Park offers recreational facilities including playgrounds, walking trails, and sports courts. The New Castle Transit Authority provides bus service connecting residents to New Castle, Pittsburgh, and other destinations.
