The Rain Can Be Especially Treacherous for New Motorcyclists

Spring has finally rolled back around and before too long we will be enjoying consistently warm and pleasant weather. And perhaps you have decided that this is the year that you are finally going to live out a dream and purchase a motorcycle.

As almost any experienced rider will tell you, once you spend some time on a motorcycle, you will be hooked for life. But as you begin this new exciting chapter of your life, you should temper your enthusiasm with caution. While learning to ride a motorcycle is not especially difficult, it takes time to acquire the skills needed to stay as safe as possible on the road.

To this end, until you really have honed your abilities, you should avoid riding in inclement weather. Just a light rain can make the roads very slick. The moments right after the rain begins can be especially treacherous as this when the road’s oil residue can rise to the surface.

If you do get caught in a sudden shower, take care to use the brakes and throttle gently and avoid quick maneuvers. The fact is, once the road gets slippery, you have a much slimmer margin for error than when conditions are optimum.

Hopefully, you will have nothing but fun on your new motorcycle. But if you should be injured in an accident and you want to make sure that you receive appropriate compensation, you may want to contact an experienced personal injury attorney. The attorney can work with the insurance companies in an effort to ensure that they provide you with the full complement of benefits to which you are entitled.
