What happens when a passenger is injured in an Uber car crash?

Many people in Pennsylvania have used Uber or other ride sharing services. They have become a very popular way to get around when people do not want to or cannot drive for one reason or another. People can access everything right on their phone which adds to the convenience and ease of the whole process. However, just like any other time that people get into an automobile, there are certain risks involved. For example, people may end up in a car accident and suffer injuries as a result.

Most people have a basic understanding of what they need to do if their car is hit by another driver. However, riding in an Uber vehicle is slightly different, because passengers are not only are at the mercy of the other drivers on the road -- they are also at the mercy of the Uber driver. The passenger is not in control of the vehicle and when the driver makes a mistake, the passenger could suffer significant injuries.

If the accident was the fault of the Uber driver, the passenger may be entitled to compensation from the Uber driver. Uber drivers are insured at least $1 million for their liability to third parties while they are driving a passenger. Third parties include the passengers in their vehicles.

However, just like any other insurance company, the Uber insurance may try and minimize the damages or their liability. This can be an issue especially since some people suffer catastrophic injuries in these accidents and may incur significant medical bills and lose income as well.

Uber drivers like any other driver in Pennsylvania can make mistakes and cause accidents. Sometimes their passengers suffer significant injuries as a result. Uber's insurance will cover damages caused by their drivers, but it is important that they properly compensate the victims. Experienced attorneys understand how to deal with insurance companies and may be able to protect one's rights.
