There are many things that people in Pennsylvania cannot control. One of these things is getting older. Eventually people will lose some of their physical and mental abilities and some will need to rely on others to help them with various tasks. Some need more help than others though depending on their needs. Many people will need to put their loved ones in nursing homes in order to ensure they receive the level of assistance that they need.

When people do this, they expect that their loved ones will be treated correctly and receive the care they need and deserve. Unfortunately though this does not always happen and some people suffer nursing home abuse. The abuse can come in many different forms as well.

Sometimes it is direct abuse such as physical abuse when the loved one is hit, kicked pushed, restrained unnecessarily and other forms of physical abuse. It could also be emotional or psychological abuse such as yelling at, insulting, demeaning or controlling the loved ones. It could also include just general neglect as well. Examples of this could be not giving the person baths or not changing them after bowel movements. It could also include poor administration of medications, ignoring complaints or not reporting injuries or illnesses to the person’s loved ones.

There are also many other forms of nursing home abuse and it can be very detrimental to the person’s health and can be very costly financially as well. The victims of nursing home abuse may be entitled to compensation for it though. This compensation can pay for any financial costs incurred to correct the abuse as well as other damages associated with it.

Many times people in Pennsylvania do not want to have to put their aging loved ones in nursing homes, but there are many situations where it is also the best option. Unfortunately some people are abused while in these nursing homes. However, the victims may be entitled to compensation. This can be very valuable and consulting with an experienced attorney may be beneficial.
