Driving cars in Pennsylvania can be very convenient and is the preferred mode of transportation for many people. However, it can also be dangerous and many people are involved in car accidents every year. The victims of these accidents can be left with damaged vehicles and serious injuries. This is why every driver in Pennsylvania is required to have car insurance on their vehicles. This is to help ensure that the victims are made whole afterwards.

Car insurance is only effective though if the driver in fact has it and they provide the relevant information to the victim to make a claim. This can only happen if the person who caused the accident stays at the scene. This does not always happen though and people often times drive away from the crash. These are known as hit-and-run accidents and they can leave the victim not only with significant injuries, but also no way to make a claim for compensation from the person who caused the accident.

People in this situation may still be able to receive compensation through their own insurance if they have uninsured motorist coverage. However, certain conditions must be met in order to make a claim. First is that the victim must have been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, the victim must not be able to identify the driver of the other vehicle, they must report the accident to the police within 24 hours of the accident, they must report it to their insurance company within 30 days and make the vehicle available for inspection by the insurance company.

Unfortunately there are many hit-and-run accidents in Pennsylvania and many victims are left in difficult positions as a result. Sometimes these accidents can cause significant injuries which result in costly medical bills and lost income. However, these victims may be able to receive compensation from their own insurance company to cover the financial loss. Experienced attorneys understand how difficult car accidents can be and may be a useful resource.
